Told you I'd get it up and running :D

This is my baby at the minute; I'm running a DNS link to whatever my IP currently is (dynamic IP) and hosting the SHOUTcast server off my home box. It's performed admirably so far!

Expect the site to have added functionality every week; I'm doing an internet course in night-school, and this is my project for it. In the mean time ... rock on!

Time for more news on the [OwP] front, this time exclusively DoD!

I recently had a chat with an old time friend from the DoD site forums, Rotkopf. Rotkopf is a well known figure in the HL mapping community, and last we spoke he was in the throes of assisting in the assembling of a site, Kustommaps. Since then, Kustommaps has had a couple of makeovers and gone on to become one of the PRIME sites on the web for DoD maps, old and new.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, Rotkopf and his mates from DoDmaps.com have recently clubbed together with the guys over at KustomMaps and acquired a server to host his fantastic collection of DoD maps on ... and has very kindly offered to affiliate with us! Go check out this server - its' hosted by All4Clans and has a 22 player cap. The IP is :27010 ... so go check it out and give much thanks to that number one DoD mapping dude, Rotkopf!

Also, we are pleased and happy to see our old friends TLA-Chris and TLA-Nick have resurrected their former Elend community at Tanelorn. These guys were on our staff for a while and helped out greatly with our initial server guidance. It's nice to see our old friends back on the block and RAZAK[OwP] assures me that the server has many regular faces, and teamwork there is brilliant! Be sure to check that one out too .... gonna be a busy month for you DoD types!

Sheesh! Two more affiliated servers in one day! Things REALLY ARE speeding up!

Hail and well met to our newest affiliates, the Outlaws of Sherwood Forest! A long-standing online community with a ripe old age of FOUR YEARS, the Outlaws of Sherwood Forest are a cracking bunch of chaps who, just like us, share a similar set of ethics and principles in their gaming behaviour.

We are delighted to welcome this seasoned and skilled bunch of guys into our community. They have a slick-as-beans charter and embody all the higher principles we aim to achieve. The [OSF] are 100-strong, and vary in age from their early teens into the 40's. Check out their super cool site, and in particular their member map! How cool!

If there was ever a justification for what we do ... THIS IS IT.

I am shocked and distressed by the transcript of the conversation in the IRC room and am frankly disgusted by the self-preservationist attitudes of these IRC users who witnessed a young man do something incredibly stupid, waited too long to call the emergency services and then bottled at the last minute because they were afraid of repercussions.

If ever there was a time when laws would be brought into power to hold us responsible for our virtual words, this is it.

My condolences to the family of Brandon. What he did was incredibly foolish, as anyone can tell you that taking prescription drugs that are not for you, or not in line with the prescription is dangerous, and mixing drugs without consulting medical professionals is incredibly dangerous and volatile.

He did a very foolish thing, but sometimes people do foolish things for serious reasons. Wherever Brandon is now, i hope he found his answers.

RIP, dude.

In some ways it's a little sad; MM is without a doubt the first, and biggest, [OwP] server, and the MM guys have always been incredibly helpful and prolific on our forums. however, I am sure that having a new site and new forums does not mean we will lose our beloved Marauders!
