Regardless of your faith or religion, this time of the year is a time to celebrate and be thankful for our lives, family, and friends. So many days of our lives are spent toiling, whether at school, at home, or at work, that we sometimes forget about the good things around us and what they mean. Fortunately, this time of the year brings old friends and family together to talk about the old times and catch up on the year gone by. It also brings out fighting over parking spots at the stores, but let's not talk about that :)

From myself and the entire staff of the OwP, I'd like to wish you all good tidings and Happy Holidays! I hope this great time of the year brings you friends and family to your door, a little drink and feast to celebrate good times, and plenty of surprise presents for all of you to enjoy. If only Santa would bring me that 19" plasma display........

Thought i'd take the time to wish everyone out there a Merry Christmas & a Happy new year on behalf of everyone here at [OwP] so have a good one.

It’s really surprising how some times you can stumble across a cell of like minded people doing their own thing, which happens to be remarkably similar to your thing!

As you probably know by now I am heavily in love with Natural Selection, a newish mod for Half-Life. The beauty of NS is in the teamwork; without teamwork you will undoubtedly suffer an agonising and horrible game. Unfortunately that’s also the biggest issue with the game; if you have a server full of people who want to be loners then you have to attempt to direct their efforts, and if you fail you will end up having a really bad game.

After scouring a number of public servers, I have found a home. BlueYonder, a UK GSP, supports a thriving NS community, one of the largest in Europe I believe. It also happens that I know many of the BYNS players from their DoD days, so it was good to play with friends. However, something else these fine people have been doing is organising pickup games; I.e. using their subscription to GSPs to hire servers for a few hours and inviting teamworking and friendly players in! the passwords for one or two of the games has been “teamwork” …

does this sound remotely familiar to you?

I’ve had the best games of NS I’ve ever played with the BYNS crew, long, furious battles and really silly outcomes, including one last night where a jetpacking marine built a base at the top of a one way vent and even with three hives and powerups through the roof, we aliens couldn’t get em out! All the games have been very good natured and fun.
