Are the Forum Fighters some sort of clan? I don't want to join a clan. :(
No! We are not a clan. You can play whenever you want and as often as you want. You don't have to show up.
Do I have to get into IRC before the match?
You don't have to, but we prefer you come to the channel (#forumfighters, GamesNet or QuakeNet). Because you can discuss tactics with your team and we know how many people will play.
By getting to know you also a bit better, will ensure you become part of the group alittle faster.
What do you guys have to do with the Online Warfare Pact?
We have the same goal, bring better and fairer play to Day of Defeat. And we would like all Forum Fighters to sign up with the OWP.
Using teamplay during Forum Fighter games is a must. Teamplay is our raison d'être, our mantra. We pride ourselves on the fact that during Forum Fighters matches, both sides are doing their best to act as a cohesive, determined fighting unit.
The web aspect of the Forum Fighters and the in-game aspect of Forum Fighters are held separate from each other in terms of leadership. Once the Forum Fighters have entered into a game, all members are held equal. Any and all members can formulate routes of attack, player positioning, strategy etc?. Once a strategy is selected, it's the team's responsibility to follow through on that strategy.
The Forum Fighters are an active wing of the OWP (Online Warfare Pact). We play by their rules both in FF games, and on public servers. Remember that your presence on public servers represents the Forum Fighters as a whole. If you act in an inappropriate manner on a public server, it reflects poorly on the group. All members should be in the Forum Fighters IRC channel (#forumfighters) on GamesNet or QuakeNet, 30 minutes before gametime. This is so that teams can be formed, any updates or changes can be announced and so that participants can talk with their teammates before going into the game arena. Once ingame, team assignments are expected to be adhered to. If there is a question of balance, the group as a whole will decide on the proper action.
After the game, we hold a vote for "Teamplayer of the Match". This commendation is given to the player who best exemplifies the principals of teamplay, unit leadership and sacrifice. Upon exiting a match, make it a habit to go to the forum to cast your vote.
Finally, have some kick ass teamplay games!
You will find many of the Forum Fighters showing up on this Great server:
